Homespun
Press publishes and sells author’s books and
manuscripts in a secure electronic format (eBook) including an ISBN
number and you retain the copyright to your work. We will
have your eBook or manuscript published in a relatively short
time and to the market for sale in an eBook format. We accept submissions from authors
in any of the 40 countries listed below. Generally we publish most works sent to us, but withhold the
right to reject degrading or offensive works. Publishing
includes preparing the manuscript for e-book publication and creation of a
webpage set up to feature your eBook and tell something about
the eBook and you, the author of the eBook. You will be able to direct
buyers to this website to purchase your eBook. Buyers
purchase the eBook through PayPal and are then returned to the
Homespun Press website to download the eBook. Homespun Press
is then notified by email that the order has been placed and
at that time, issues a security code to the customer.
The security code
allows the customer to unlock and read the eBook or eDocument from one
PC computer with Internet Explorer or Netscape (will also work
on Macintosh provided it has appropriate PC emulation software).
At the same time the eBook is unlocked to read, it is also code locked
to that PC. The file can be shared with others, but is
of little use because the other parties will not have a code
to open it. The customer's code will not work on any
other PC. This prevents the author's eBook
from being shared freely with others. The
eBook will open in any current MS Explorer or Netscape
format, and in most cases is configured to have a sizeable
window. Other reader formats may be available in the future.
Adding
security to the eBook publication means, no sending free
copies of the author's work to the customer's friends without payment or re-selling
the author's work without permission. We do not guarantee that
the eBook cannot be hacked into by very cleaver hackers, but
we do believe that our security is good and
protects the author’s work from being copied and passed around
without payment -- in other words, casually stolen.
The issue with most eBook sales is that the eBook requires a
special reader be downloaded or that a hand-held device is
needed to read the eBook and not all of these display graphics.
More importantly, the eBook file itself can normally be
downloaded to a PC or other device and read by anyone with a
like reader on their PC or electronic device. Therefore,
offering the author no protection against theft of their work.
With Homespun Press, there are no "per eBook"
publishing fees – you can sell one copy or thousands of copies
for the same flat publication fee. Our fee structure is
pretty simple. Most eBooks that arrive in the correct MS Word
or HTML format and do not require much further work will not
incur any extra charges. Upon arrival of the electronic work
file, an assessment will be done to determine if the material
is in suitable format to continue. If it is deemed to need
further work, the author will be notified and given the
opportunity to address the issues and re-send it or have
Homespun Press staff under-take the needed work at an
additional charge. Editing and proofing of the eBook is
left to the author.
If your eBook
sells well and a formal publisher wishes to pick it up for
publication, we will cease selling the eBook at your request
after the minimum time has been met and leave you free to broker a contract with any other
publisher. Large publishers will sometimes discover books
after they have been published by smaller publishing houses.
We think that is a great opportunity for the author and wish
them success and are glad to have been the catalyst that made
publication with a large publication house possible.
The author
will retain control of the copyright to their work. Homespun
Press can act on behalf of the author to register the work
with the United States Library of Congress or the author can
do this themselves. There are certain
benefits to registering a copyright with the LOC in the cases
of plagiarism and illegal sale of published works. The work
will be lodged with The National Library of New Zealand at no
charge and as required under the terms of assigning the ISBN.
The author is free to market their
eBook and announcing it's availability for purchase through
Homespun Press as they think appropriate. Homespun Press
Limited does not permit spamming using it's name or links to
it's webpages.
Payments of
royalties will be made quarterly direct to the author’s
PayPal account in US Dollars. Quarterly
pay dates are January 20, April 20, July 20, and October 20 of
each year. All fees for
service and sales of eBooks will be shown in US
dollars as the prime currency and approximate currency
conversions may appear on the website in NZD (New Zealand
Dollar), EUR (European), and GBP (UK Great Britain Pound).
Retail Sale is
the amount the book is sold for before country tax is applied
which applies only to New Zealand residents.

The following are samples of an eBook
showing different sizing. The eBook can be sized the
same as sizing any MS Windows frame by using the mouse to drag
the sides of the window to where the reader wants them.
The reader can also use the normal sizing buttons at the top
right hand corner of the window to size the window. This
allows readers to choose the most comfortable width and length
to read the book for their needs. The eBook initially
opens in a 800 x 600 window.
